About CARION FENN

Community Leader • Healthcare Advocate • Champion for Ajax

Carion Fenn is a dedicated community leader, award-winning healthcare advocate, entrepreneur, and television host who has spent years serving families and strengthening communities across Ajax and Durham Region. As the Founder and CEO of the Carion Fenn Foundation, Carion has built a strong record of community service, advocacy, and support for people and families facing barriers to healthcare, mental health services, food insecurity, homelessness, accessibility, and other challenges. Carion is also the host of Health 180 with Carion Fenn on Rogers TV Durham, where she explores healthcare issues, raises awareness, and connects viewers with healthcare information, resources, and options. Her commitment to healthcare leadership is demonstrated through her five years of service as a Board Trustee with Lakeridge Health, which serves Durham Region.

During her tenure, she served as Chair and Vice-Chair of the Board Quality Committee and as Committee Board Chair of the Ajax-Pickering Hospital Community Panel. Her governance experience included oversight involving Lakeridge Health's hospitals and services, including the Pinewood Centre for addictions, long-term care, and Durham Mental Health Services. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Carion worked to help bridge barriers between families and healthcare services.

She advocated for patients and families and worked to help countless families maintain access to their loved ones during one of the most challenging periods in our healthcare system. In recognition of her resilience, dedication, and service during the pandemic, Carion received the Rogers TV Resiliency Award in 2021. Carion has also been a strong advocate for accessibility and inclusion. She served as Vice-Chair and Accessibility Advisor to Council on the Town of Ajax Accessibility Advisory Committee, helping bring the voices and experiences of residents with disabilities to municipal discussions.A trailblazer in municipal politics, Carion was the first Black woman to run for Mayor of the Town of Ajax. Her commitment to public service is rooted in a belief that leadership means listening to residents, removing barriers, bringing people together, and getting things done. Her community service has earned her numerous honours and recognitions, including the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Pin, the Adult Ajax Civic Award—the Town of Ajax's highest civic honour, the Education and Accessibility Community Award from the Town of Ajax, the Ontario Volunteer Service Award for 10 years of service, the Spinal Cord Injury Ontario and University Health Network Patti Dawson Award, and an Advocacy Award from the Abilities Awards.

Beyond her professional and advocacy work, Carion has remained committed to community service. She is a former member of the Ajax Legion, Ajax Rotary Club, Pickering Rotary Club and is a former volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada.

For Carion, public service is more than a title—it is a responsibility. She believes Ajax deserves leadership that listens, works hard, brings people together, and delivers results.
